Collaborating for Impact: A Framework to Measure the Impact of Commissioned Research in Manitoba

Dahl L, Hnatiuk J, Randall S, Soodeen R, Goss A, Gordon Pappas D, Carter N, Sarmiento L, Alexiuk T, Nickel N. Winnipeg MB: Manitoba Centre for Health Policy, 2025.

This project focused on developing a framework to better understand how the government-commissioned research evidence that MCHP produces is used (e.g., improving programs or policies). In essence, the goal of this project was to create a way to measure the impact that this this type of research is having. The framework not only tracks how the research is used but also examines how the research process can be improved— ensuring that future projects are more timely, relevant, and effective. The comprehensive nature of the framework will help make research findings more useful for decision-makers and increase their impact, ultimately contributing to the improved health and wellbeing of Manitobans.
