Definition:

The marital status variable in the Manitoba Health Insurance Registry Data contains marital status information that parents have voluntarily reported to Manitoba Health. For more information, please read the Divorce - Family Structure concept.

In the 2005 article by Juby et a., divorce prevalence was measured by using the marital status variable recorded in the Registry for each six-month period to identify changes in marital status over time.
