Definition:

"Partial or total premature separation of a normally implanted placenta." (Olds SB et al., 2004).

In Heaman et al. (2012), a woman was considered to have had a placenta previa/abruptio placenta diagnosis if the ICD-10-CA code of O44 or O45 was present.
