Definition:

A general category within hospital types that identifies hospitals located in larger rural centres. In Fransoo et al. (2013) this included nine hospitals: Bethesda Hospital (Steinbach), Boundary Trails Health Centre (Winkler/Morden), Dauphin Regional Health Centre, Flin Flon General Hospital Inc., Portage District General Hospital, Selkirk and District General Hospital, Swan River Valley Hospital, The Pas Health Complex Inc., and Thompson General Hospital.
