Definition:
A general category within hospital types that identifies hospitals that are focused primarily on providing long-term care rather than acute care. In Fransoo et al. (2013) this included 13 facilities, located in the Southern and Prairie Mountain Health Regions. These facilities included: Baldur Health Centre, Birtle Health Centre, Emerson Hospital, Erickson Health Centre, MacGregor and District Health Centre, McCreary/Alonsa Health Centre, Pembina-Manitou Health Centre, Reston Health Centre, Riverdale Health Services District (Rivers), Rossburn District Health Centre, Seven Regions Health Centre (Gladstone), St. Claude Hospital, and Wawanesa and District Memorial Health Centre.
