Definition:

The Social Complexity Index comprises eight, highly correlated social complexities: high residential mobility, low income quintile, social housing resident, income assistance, teen mom, child of a teen mom, child in care, and involvement with the justice system. It was developed using factor analysis of 11 social complexities (major mental health diagnosis, newcomer, and child of a newcomer, in addition to those listed above) to address co-linearity issues in multiple regression models, which arise when they are all included as separate variables.
