  • Winnipeg, is the capital city in the province of Manitoba, Canada.

  • Winnipeg is an ethnically diverse city with a reported population of 705,244 (at the Census SubDivision (CSD) level), an increase of 6.3% between 2011 and 2016.

  • As a Census Metropolitan Area (CMA), the reported population is 778,489, an increase of 6.6% between 2011 and 2016.

  • According to the 2016 Census, 12.2% of the population self-identify as Indigenous (5.3% First Nations, 6.6% Metis) and 25.5% are immigrants.

  • Approximately 35% of the population rents and of those who rent, 18.3% live in subsidized housing and 39.6% spend more than 30% of their income on shelter costs.

  • Almost one in five families (18.5%) are headed by a single parent.
