Definition:

concept/Social Determinants of Health-SDOH-Digital Library-Image.jpg A restitution order is made when a judge orders a convicted offender to pay money to someone, usually the victim, as part of their sentence. Restitution is the money an offender must pay to help the victim recover his or her financial losses as a result of the offender’s crime.
