Term: Stayed
Last Updated: 2024-07-08
A stay of charges is when a trial is “put on hold.” This means that the trial is not moving forward and there is no immediate need to reach a verdict. It important to note that this does not mean that the charges are dropped or cancelled, the charges are “still in play” until they are formally withdrawn.
