Definition:

Medications used to counteract or diminish the symptoms of psychotic conditions (i.e., hallucinations, paranoia, etc.). These medications are also referred to as neuroleptics. Typical neuroleptics define more traditional or 'older' antipsychotic medications, while atypical neuroleptics define newer antipsychotics.
