Definition:

A key hospital performance indicator that reflects the degree to which hospitals meet general targets for the timely discharge of patients. This measure takes into account the types of patients treated (e.g. age, gender, Treaty Status) and length of stay (actual vs. expected stay based on average Manitoba length of stay for a typical case - using RDRGsĀ®). Inefficient hospitals are those that use more days of care than expected given their case mix.
