Definition:

The removal of enlarged veins around the anus (hemorrhoids) and may be recommended when nonsurgical treatment (fiber rich diet, laxatives, stool softener, suppositories, medications, warm baths) has not provided adequate relief. See MedlinePlus® - Health Topics - Hemorrhoids for more information.
