Definition:

Inpatient and outpatient expenditures and laboratory and imaging costs (Laboratory and Imaging Services) are included. Excluded are capital costs, depreciation, non-patient costs such as research, plant costs for non-hospital buildings, and physician salaries and sessional payments.
