Definition:

The 8th version of the International Classification of Diseases coding system (ICD-8), developed by the World Health Organization (WHO) that is used to classify diseases, health conditions and procedures. ICDA was adapted for use in the United States of America. This version of coding was collected in Manitoba medical services/physician claims, hospital discharge abstracts, long term care, and Vital Statistics - mortality data until March, 1979.
