Term: Registration Number (REGNO) / (REGNO_CODE)

Definition:

A six-character, alphanumeric value (e.g. A12345) assigned by Manitoba Health to identify family units receiving health services. Also known as REGNO and family Registration Number.

Individuals within a family are also assigned a unique 9-digit Personal Health Identification Number (PHIN) for identifying services provided to that individual.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

• In March, 2023, changes were made to the value of the Registration Number being issued to new and existing Manitobans requiring a NEW Family Registration Number.
  
• the Registration Number (REGNO) values changed from a six-character, numeric value (e.g. 123456) to a six character, alphanumeric value (e.g. A12345).
  
• the alpha character(s) in the Registration Number will contain capitalized / upper case letters, will never contain any non-English language characters or special characters, and will never contain the letters B, I, Z, S, T, Q, G and O to avoid any confusion between letters and numbers that may look similar.
  
• the family Registration Number variable name in related data files in the Manitoba Population Research Data Repository will change from REGNO to REGNO_CODE.
  
  
• there is no change to the 9-digit Personal Health Identification Number (PHIN) for identifying services provided to an individual.
