Definition:

This is a measure of the crude and adjusted average annual rate of benzodiazepine Defined Daily Dose (DDD) among residents aged 16 and older with at least one prescription for benzodiazepines. DDDs were calculated only for solid forms of the drug, such as capsules, tablets, suppositories and patches; DDDs were not calculated for benzodiazepines in liquid or injectionable forms.
