Definition:

Child and Family Services (CFS) is a division within the Department of Families, Government of Manitoba, that is responsible for providing a comprehensive continuum of child protection (e.g.: foster care) and family support services in Manitoba in accordance with The Child and Family Services Act and The Adoption Act.

** NOTE: In 2012, CFS services were provided through the Department of Family Services and Consumer Affairs. As of May 16, 2012, CFS services were provided through the Department of Family Services and Labour, and then through the department of Family Services and Housing. Currently (May 20, 2020), CFS is a division within the provincial government Department of Families.
