Term: Intrauterine Growth Restriction (IUGR)

Definition:

"The occurrence of poor fetal growth which may happen through a number of mechanisms" (Public Health Agency of Canada, 2008, page 130). IUGR is different than Small-for-Gestational-Age (SGA) as SGA refers to size after a baby is born.
