Definition:

The Social Complexity Index comprises eight, highly correlated social complexities: high residential mobility, low income quintile, social housing resident, income assistance, teen mom, child of a teen mom, child in care, and involvement with the justice system. It was developed using factor analysis of 11 social complexities (major mental health diagnosis, newcomer, and child of a newcomer, in addition to those listed above) to address co-linearity issues in multiple regression models, which arise when they are all included as separate variables.

For more information on the construction and use of the Social Complixity Index in MCHP research, please read the Social Complexities / Social Complexity Index concept.
