Definition:

The most frequent reasons for day surgery, defined as surgical services received on an outpatient basis in acute care facilities. Each day surgery abstract has a ‘most responsible’ diagnosis – the diagnosis that describes the most significant condition of the patient who required day surgery. These diagnoses are grouped by ICD–10–CA chapter; the ten most common causes are reported, as an average annual crude percent.
