Definition:

Suicide attempters are individuals aged 10 years or more who attempted suicide at least once in a five-year period, and were identified by the presence of any specific suicide related codes of ICD-9-CM or ICD-10 in Vital Statistics (Mortality) data, Medical Services/Physician Claims data, or Hospital Discharge Abstracts data. Suicide attempters do not include people who completed suicide.
