Definition:
The hospital discharge abstract contains space for recording information (e.g.: surgery code and date of surgery) during a hospital stay as either inpatient or outpatient. For data up to the end of fiscal year 2003/04, this includes up to 12 procedures using ICD-9-CM coding. For data from fiscal year 2004/05 onward, this includes up to 20 interventions using Canadian Classification of Health Interventions (CCI) coding.
