Term: Waiting List
Glossary Definition
Last Updated: 2007-09-26
Definition:
A list of patients who are waiting for surgery (the decision to operate has been jointly made with the surgeon). In Manitoba, each surgeon, clinic and hospital keep separate lists. Prior to January 1, 1999, physicians maintained two lists - one for patients prepared to pay a facility fee at a private clinic and one for those not prepared to do so; under new regulations, clinics no longer charge this fee to patients, thereby eliminating the need for two lists.
