Definition:
A group of psychiatric conditions involving excessive anxiety (i.e. excessive feelings of apprehension or fear) that persist to the point that they interfere with daily life for an extended period of time. In Doupe et al. (2008), this included anxiety states, phobic disorders, and obsessive-compulsive disorders. For a list of ICD codes identifying anxiety, please see the

IMPORTANT NOTE:
In 2012, MCHP research combined the depression and anxiety conditions into "Mood and Anxiety Disorders". The concept titled
