Definition:

Infectious diseases that may be prevented through immunization coverage.

As part of the National Immunization Strategy, the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) reports on a number of selected notifiable infectious diseases that are considered to be vaccine preventable (PHAC, 2006). This includes: Haemophilis influenzae B, diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, poliomyelitis, measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B and congential rubella syndrome.
