Definition:

The number of times a woman has given birth after 20 weeks' gestation. A multiple birth is counted as one birth and stillbirths are included. For hospital births, the field OBPARA (with 0 being primipara and 1 being multipara) was used to determine parity. For homebirths, parity was determined from the Midwifery Discharge Summary Reports.
