Definition:

"A molar pregnancy is a rare complication. It happens when an egg and a sperm meet at fertilization, but the cells do not grow in a way that can support a pregnancy." In Heaman et al. (2012), a molar pregnancy was determined by the ICD-9-CM codes: 630, 631, or 632 or the ICD-10-CA codes: D39.2, O001, or O02.
