Diverticulosis is a condition diagnosed by the presence of diverticula (small pouches that bulge outward through the colon or large intestine). For more information, see MedlinePlus® - Health Topics - Diverticulosis and Diverticulitis - accessed July 14, 2022.

In this research, hospital discharge abstracts with a relevant ICD-10-CA diagnosis code (K57 or K61) in any diagnostic position were used to identify individuals with a diagnosis for diverticulosis.
