Last Updated: 2023-04-27
Latent Tuberculosis Infection (LTBI) (or "sleeping TB") arises when an individual is infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis (TB) but the bacterium is dormant and not transmissible (does not have active disease). Individuals with LTBI are more likely to progress to active TB if they do not receive and adhere to treatment.
