Definition:

The cumulative five-year mortality rate among those with hypertension compared to those without hypertension. Individuals were categorized as with or without hypertension in a fiscal year and their mortality rate was calculated in the subsequent five year period. The denominator is the Manitoba population age 19 and older, who had at least one year of coverage and were registered with Manitoba Health during the five-year period or until death. Rates were age- and sex-adjusted to the Manitoba population 19+.
