Definition:

An inpatient hospitalization where the main reason for the hospital stay was medical care of a disease or injury. In Fransoo et al. (2013), medical hospitalizations were defined by Medical Case Mix Groups (CMG™) codes. See Service Type - Hospital for further details about classification of hospitalizations and days of care.
