Term: Activities of Daily Living (ADL)

Definition:
A defined set of activities (e.g.: movement in bed, transfers, locomotion, dressing, personal hygiene, and feeding) necessary for normal self-care. An individual's ability to perform ADLs is important for determining their required type of long-term care (e.g., home care or personal care home).
