Term: Total Acuity by Income Status
Last Updated: 2007-09-26
Analyses undertaken by MCHP have demonstrated that individuals of lower socioeconomic status have higher rates of admission to hospital and spend more days in hospital than those of higher socioeconomic status. Total acuity was investigated on admission and for subsequent days in hospital by income quintile, a measure of socioeconomic status. Income Quintiles are based on postal codes which have been sorted by average household income value.
