The Manitoba Education department was formed in the 2009-2010 fiscal year as a result of a department restructuring of the Manitoba provincial government. Previously, it was part of the department called Manitoba Education, Citizenship and Youth (MECY). Currently, it is part of a department called Education and Advanced Learning.
