Term: Canadian Classification of Diagnostic, Therapeutic, and Surgical Procedures (CCP)
Last Updated: 2009-01-08
"The Canadian Classification of Diagnostic, Therapeutic, and Surgical Procedures (CCP) was originally developed by Statistics Canada in 1978 to meet Canadian needs for a procedural classification to be used in conjunction with ICD-9. CCP is divided into two parts: the Tabular List and the Alphabetic Index." (SOURCE:

An alternative to the CCP is the procedure section of the ICD-9-CM. ICD-9-CM was used to record procedures in hospital discharge abstracts in Manitoba until 2004 when the Canadian Classification of Health Interventions (CCI) was implemented, accompanying the ICD-10-CA.
