The general mental health scale is a summary measure from the SF-36 questionnaire, indicating the general mental health of an individual on a scale from 0-100, with higher scores indicating better mental health. Statistics Canada transformed the scale to facilitate comparisons across scales and reflect a relative position. The general mental health scale is a derived measure from the SF-36 questionnaire, addressing overall mental health on a scale of 0 to 100 (higher is better). Based on the distribution of scores, three groups were created with approximately one-third of respondents in each group: Low (0-79), Medium (80-91) and High (92-100).
