Glossary Definition
Last Updated: 2019-08-09
Definition:
The CCHS is an annual survey (biennial until 2007) conducted by Statistics Canada to provide regular and timely cross-sectional estimates of health determinants, health status and health system utilization for 136 health regions in Canada, including the territories. In Manitoba, survey respondents were sampled from 11 different regions. Participants for most surveys were 12 years of age and older; the sampling methodology was designed to ensure over-representation of youth under 19 years of age and seniors 65 years of age and older. The survey excludes populations living in Indian Reserves, on Canadian Forces Bases, and in some remote areas, and those not living in households.
NOTE: As of August, 2019 the CCHS and NPHS data from Statistics Canada is no longer available for research use through the Manitoba Centre for Health Policy (MCHP).
