A federal government department (formerly part of the now-dissolved Indian and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC)) that is responsible for working "collaboratively with partners to improve access to high quality services for First Nations, Inuit and Métis- and "to support and empower Indigenous peoples to independently deliver services and address the socioeconomic conditions in their communities."
