Definition:
Mammography is a low-dose x-ray of the breast used to determine if a woman has breast cancer or a breast tumor. It is commonly used for breast cancer screening. Mammograms can show most breast cancer two to three years before it can be detected through self-exams. Manitoba has a province-wide breast screening program called BreastCheck, operated by the Manitoba Breast Screening Program at CancerCare Manitoba.
