Definition:

The removal of the lower limb (below or including the knee) by amputation, in combination with a diagnosis of diabetes. Rates are expressed per 1,000 area residents age 20 through 79 (denominator includes both diabetics and non-diabetics).

NOTE: in some MCHP research, this term is called "Lower Limb Amputations Among People/Residents with Diabetes".
