Definition:

Specific patient characteristics are used to investigate the patient - physician relationship. Some of these characteristics include: the number of un-referred and consultative ambulatory visits, patient age and gender, socio-economic status (SES), the number of hospital admissions per year, complications / comorbidities, mental health conditions and continuity of care.
