Definition:
A process (tests, examinations or other procedures) to distinguish between well individuals who probably have (or are likely to develop) a particular disease from those who probably do not have it. This is also considered the secondary level of preventive care, involving the early detection of illness. For example, screening mammography is provided through the established (1996) provincial program, the Manitoba Breast Screening Program.
