The child health indicators found in this report are updates of many of the child health indicators found in an earlier MCHP report: Assessing the Health of Children in Manitoba: A Population-Based Study. As with the previous report, our goal for this report was to provide a rich source of descriptive, population-based information on child health which could be used by policy makers to evaluate child health status at sub-regional, regional and provincial levels, and identify areas where new policy efforts are necessary. The graphs shown in this section, as with other sections of the report, are ordered by socioeconomic status, going from the highest socioeconomic status at the top of the graph, to the lowest, at the bottom.

Child Mortality
This section of the report describes child mortality rates for Manitoba residents, including infant mortality rates (deaths before 1 year of age) and child mortality rates (deaths for children 1 to 19 years of age).

Adolescent Pregnancy and Birth
Manitoba has one of the highest teen pregnancy rates in Canada (12). The consequences of teen pregnancy and birth include physical, social and psychological risks to both mother and baby. The graphs presented here are for teen females aged 12-19 years. Data for other age categories (12 to 17, 18 to 19, 15 to 19, and 15 to 17 years) are available in the Excel files.
